OWNERS of the ten most popular car makes can save £740 a year in running costs by swopping their conventional cars for electric vehicles, a transport research group claimed yesterday. Its online calculator shows that drivers could save the equivalent of a new flat screen TV thanks to the cheaper day-to-day costs.
